Our Church History
“Inspired by Faith”
February 1987, Pastor C. E. Yates stretched out on faith and organized the New Generation Holiness Church with only 10 members that consisted of the Yates and Dunagin families. The ministry began in a small rented room located on McCree Street. This room would only accommodate 15 people. March 1987 the church relocated to 205 ½ Lake Drive, where other people came to join. We were blessed to worship on Lake Drive for 9 years. One Wednesday night, after prayer service, Pastor Yates shared a Great Vision with the family. This was a vision God given him to go and seek for land to purchase and build a house for God. We obeyed and began our search for property to purchase. Pastor Yates had the faith to believe that God would Make a Way somehow.
January 1991 the vision came to passed and the New Generation Holiness Church was blessed to purchase this property and the adjacent property to build a sanctuary. In July 1993 the groundbreaking service was held and three generation turned the soul, the late Elder Benjamin Yates, Pastor Carnelius Yates and Nicholas and Jeremy Yates, shortly thereafter the construction of the sanctuary began. We were grateful and thankful for what God had done for us. We realized that it wasn't going to be easy and our faith was in God and we knew He would not fail us. On July 27 1996, the New generation Holiness Church celebrated the opening of our newly constructed sanctuary here at 153 East Wanda Drive.
On April 6, 2009 New Generation was blessed to pay off the Church Mortgage and Phase 11 is ready in motion. God has blessed us and brought us through a “glorious Past” and it is he who will help us “embrace a promising future”. I solicit your prayer as I continue to do the work of the Lord.
